Anton’s visual hypocrisy on Olympic videos

Posted by Jonathan Ross

Suzanne Anton seems to have forgotten about her guest appearances in the videos that she is so riled up about.

So as per usual, lone NPA (Vancouver First???) Councillor Suzanne Anton’s lacklustre opposition to the Vision Vancouver administration is relying on a blogger and potential City Council candidate to do her work for her.

It is a commonly held belief around the city that Anton has failed miserably at providing any kind of opposition to the ruling party – largely because of an apparent fondness for Gregor Robertson.

Hell must be freezing over when I actually quote from the musings of Alex Tsakumis, but I must reference this post entitled “Why Suzanne Anton Should Not Ever be Mayor of Vancouver…,” and more specifically this line:

“But why on God’s green orb she bothers to pretend that as a mayoral candidate she would even have a snow cone’s chance in hell against Gregor…”

Tsakumis posts a notice sent to Anton supporters inviting them to support a garden party in support of Heritage Vancouver, with the special guest being…get this – Mayor Gregor Robertson.  The picture that Anton proudly shows off with her and the Mayor is particularly nice.

In a similar fashion, Anton’s criticisms of Olympic videos on Global’s story from last night just reek of tunnel-vision hypocrisy.

A Birthday Off

I will be back tomorrow after today’s celebrations.

This ridiculous blog post is no surprise

Cycling in Vancouver makes David Pratt a very unhappy camper.

Dave Pratt is angry about cyclists being given a greater opportunity to get around town safely.

“FAIR WEATHER” CYCLISTS…BOZOS…“PIN HEADS”…“CORUPTED” – are just some of the adjectives and terms he uses to get his point across.

So Is it any wonder that he used this kind of technique in his former job?

Pratt’s “minor gaffe” is something that is considered pretty major in the world of authoring, whether it be a blog, a book or a newspaper article.  Thus, his radar on the cycling issue in Vancouver, and any other for that matter that appears on his blog, suspect to say the least.

Oh, and what was his justification for this “minor gaffe”?

“It was a Saturday and I wanted to get out of [the office] before noon.”

Seems that he employed the same kind of attitude in his writing of such a shallow and poorly thought out post as the one linked to above.

Pratt and his wisdom can still be heard on the TEAM 1040.

Me thinks, however, that it is time to do a little digging into his blog archives.

Come on NPA’ers – let’s make “Vancouver First”!!!

Are NPA members really ready to give up on their final remaining bastion of political viability?

Over the weekend I received a phone call from a reader suggesting that I head over to the NPA’s website to see the latest desperate attempt by the remaining party faithful to remain relevant.

As some might remember, the association gathered on April 30th for their Annual General Meeting to discuss the future.  Dissatisfied with their current lot in Vancouver’s political scene, a proposal emerged to change the name of the entire entity in the hopes that voters might forget how out of touch and arrogant the NPA had become in their final days of power.

Well, the bright idea for change has emerged, and apparently, the brain trust are looking to Diane Watts for inspiration.

FACT OF THE DAY

In 2010, Vancouver had fewer than half the number of murders than it had in 2009.  There were nine homicides within Vancouver’s city limits, down from 19 killings the previous year.

Quote OF THE DAY

“Perhaps it was my silk dress or the new perfume I’ve been wearing lately. When I asked Suzanne Anton what her New Year’s resolution was, she replied, “To kiss a pretty girl!” and pecked me on the cheek.”  – Writer Emily Barca describing her encounter with the lone NPA City Councillor on New Year’s Eve.
