A Park Board update – avoidance the policy of choice

Does Ian Robertson have an ownership piece of the Vancouver Park Board that citizens are not aware of?

Does Ian Robertson have an ownership stake in the Vancouver Park Board that citizens are not aware of?

Several inquiries to Anita Ho over at the Vancouver Park Board, both by email and phone, have gone unanswered.  My inquiries regarding Park Commissioner Ian Robertson’s use of the Vancouver Park Board logo on his personal website does not seem like a complicated question, so the only determination I can make is that a policy of avoidance is what is being employed.

Here is the email I sent to Ho this week:

“Hello Anita,

I left you a message last Friday, but never received a call back.

I am inquiring about Commissioner Ian Robertson’s use of the Vancouver Park Board logo on his own personal website.

I would like to clarify the policy of the Park Board with regards to this or any kind of use of the Park Board logo.

As far as I understand, no Commissioner has any special rights to a symbol of a branch of the City of Vancouver, which would make Robertson’s adoption of it for his own political purposes inappropriate.

I look forward to your timely reply to this matter.

Best regards,

The only other possibility I can think of is that Ian’s previous tenure as Chair guarantees him continued protection by some of the Park Board staff, making this issue something that apparently isn’t worthy of a response.

If Anita or her colleagues think that I am going to let this issue die, then they are sorely mistaken.

FACT OF THE DAY

In 2010, Vancouver had fewer than half the number of murders than it had in 2009.  There were nine homicides within Vancouver’s city limits, down from 19 killings the previous year.

Quote OF THE DAY

“Perhaps it was my silk dress or the new perfume I’ve been wearing lately. When I asked Suzanne Anton what her New Year’s resolution was, she replied, “To kiss a pretty girl!” and pecked me on the cheek.”  – Writer Emily Barca describing her encounter with the lone NPA City Councillor on New Year’s Eve.
