Quick hits

Last week I took a much needed break – partially as I mentioned because of a computer melt down, and partially because of a fatigue of pontificating.  I promised a return this past weekend, but that also didn’t happen because of my enjoyment of the malaise, some amazing weather, and a full slate of great football games.

But now, armed with a sleek and sexy new laptop, I am back.

Computer troubles and holiday doubles force Civicscene break

Hi all. I had a computer blow up on me this week with data recovery costing me a pretty penny, and then the Christmas party circuit has been full of sips of this and that. So, I apologize for the break, but will be back tomorrow with some comments on the Vancouver Park Board and its ongoing manufactured drama, the NDP leadership race and the budget. Until tomorrow…

Political games trump gender equity spin by Robertson, Mackinnon

The dynamic duo is at it again, and this time, they are using gender politics as their latest form of attack.

This story went up in this morning’s Vancouver Courier, with the spin being that Aaron Jasper was undemocratic, and that a female should be in the chair.

But like usual, the Ian Robertson/Stuart Mackinnon alliance has become more concerned with cheap politics than substance.

FACT OF THE DAY

In 2010, Vancouver had fewer than half the number of murders than it had in 2009.  There were nine homicides within Vancouver’s city limits, down from 19 killings the previous year.
