Upcoming stories for tomorrow

To take a page out of the playbook of a local and usually vitriolic local blogger, I am updating  readers on some interesting pieces that will be a part of tomorrow’s latest edition of Quick Hits:

  • A look at how a link from the City of Vancouver’s website to the Mayor’s new website is non-controversy and a pretty standard practice
  • A commentary on a questionable and stereotpyical comment from the blogger referred to above about one of Vancouver’s City Councillors
  • An interesting quote from the past that is humourous in light of recent career developments in said blogger
  • Some comments on the Stir protests which have evolved into a “pick your political beef” display of shallow NIMBY outcries
  • And questions about COPE’s future, and how they are hanging on for dear life as a political movement
  • And a pathetic display by not only Montreal yahoos, but also the Conservative Cabinet Minister who has now been shamed into joining the Habs bandwagon

Until then, mes amis.

FACT OF THE DAY

In 2010, Vancouver had fewer than half the number of murders than it had in 2009.  There were nine homicides within Vancouver’s city limits, down from 19 killings the previous year.

Quote OF THE DAY

“Perhaps it was my silk dress or the new perfume I’ve been wearing lately. When I asked Suzanne Anton what her New Year’s resolution was, she replied, “To kiss a pretty girl!” and pecked me on the cheek.”  – Writer Emily Barca describing her encounter with the lone NPA City Councillor on New Year’s Eve.
